Smiling in the now

Uncategorized

Already half way through January and still can’t wrap my head around 2015…

So many adventures in 2014 I got side-tracked from the blog, life as I knew it before and so I decided to live in the moment. Summer was amazing, brunches galore, trips, unexpected adventures. I can honestly say 2014 was a fantastically weird treat to acknowledging you can not truly control anything…you make choices and live in the now. I missed my heart and had to live with understanding how distance makes the heart grow fonder as well as how living in ones own world can also create a bigger distance than we don’t see coming until it’s too late. #sigh… I met some amazing women and got to know myself better being in their company…2014 would not have been 2014 without my ladies #ladieswhobrunch #champagnequeens #mimosasondeck #rooftoppools #packabag #isitabottomlessbrunchornah???

I’m in the best possible space I could be in and I didn’t even realise it until I fell into it. When I stopped obsessing about business, blogging, finding my purpose etc etc the list goes on and on…I just started living and praying. Things started shifting and happening, and it made me realise when I over think, worry, question…It doesn’t make me any better, I just fall into a pit of nothingness. The end of 2014 brought about big decisions, I went back and forth and changed my mind repeatedly (sorry to those close enough to constantly hear my mumbles of ‘I don’t know what to do’ ‘what do you think’ ‘ok, no now i’ve really made up my mind’ ‘yeah, I’m done’ (lol) forgive me….)

And now 2015 is here and things are changing so quickly…there’s no looking back. I’m gearing myself up for the challenges ahead of me and focusing on getting the things on my long-term goal list fulfilled. The little things I used to think I needed to make me happy don’t amount to the feeling of understanding myself enough to know I want so much more than to just wake up and be. This year I am going to check off a good amount from my goals list, purely by being committed and choosing to trust God.

Hooray to 2015

Stay blessed loves

Finding oneself in the craziness is a journey in itself…looking to ring off 2014 with a firm grasp on where I will be going in 2015. Making money…keeping myself in shape and being creative.

So ready…are you?

Making decisions

How can we maximise our time and get results quicker and get great outcomes?

I ask myself this question daily. We live in a world that changes quicker than a heartbeat… I have found that retreating into my sanctuary…God, Prayer and family- (the one God put me in and the one he hand-picked for my journey)….has brought me back to the place I left off and had no idea how to get back to. During the holidays I sit back and reflect on all the ups, downs, happy, tear-filled days of the year and take the time to thank God for all the good and bad. Everything is a life lesson and what we take from it and grow in ourselves helps build us to be the best versions of ourselves. I choose to be happy everyday, there is always something to smile about.

Decision making is a fine art. Find your happy place and retreat to it any time you feel the pressure of the world draining you.

Wishing you all happy holidays, time with family and prosperity in 2015.

The Liebster Award

Uncategorized

Super excited to be awarded a liebster 🙂 thank you Kassandra for loving my blog enough to select me. I hope I continue to blog, award-worthy posts. Knowing someone is reading my posts and enjoying them motivates me to keep blogging.

Here are the rules I found:

The Official Rules Of The Liebster Award

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.

2. display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)

3. answer  questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

4. provide random facts about yourself.

5. nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)

6. create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.

7. list these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:

8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

The question kassandra asked was:

If your house was burning and you had the chance to save ONLY 3 things (not including pets or family members). What would you save and why?

I would save my photographs, cellphone and the blankie my grandma gave me when I was born. All these things have some kind of sentimental value to me- the photographs are all memories that I could never 100% store in my mind- there are days I sit down and just look at them and remember great times with family and friends. My cellphone- in this tech world we live in, 90% of our lives are stored on some or other tech device- mine is my cell. And lastly the blankie.. I have travelled everywhere with this blankie- its kept me warm on plane, bus & train rides. Its an awesome cover-up when I am lounging on the couch, reminds me of my gran and how much she loved/loves me..I absolutely love it. I hope to one day give it to one of my children when i get to that stage of my life.

My nominees for the Liebster are:

1. Leetal

2. Thandi

3. Sasha

4. Sherane

5. Douglas

I absolutely love these bloggers and their wonderful inspiring posts. I hope they respond to this award and let us know a little bit about themselves.

My questions to these bloggers are:

  1. How did you pick your blog’s name?
  2. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
  3. What motivates you?
  4. What are three things you cannot live without?
  5. Who is your favorite fictional character?
  6. What is your most prized possession?
  7. Describe yourself in three words.
  8. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
  9. What single quality do you most appreciate in people?
  10. What’s your favorite post that you’ve written? (Link, please!)

You can find more details on the Liebster Awards here and make sure you link out to everyone and share the blogger love.

Here’s to more great blog posts, enjoying each others posts and staying happy

Modern-day take on gorgeous vintage pieces- originally posted on ohmytrendy.com

So thankful spring is officially here- Couldn’t possibly deal with anymore cold #sigh…

I have spent too many nights & days indoors. time to start packing away coats and lose some layers of clothing.

I have been looking for swimwear inspiration for an upcoming trip and of course in true Nouveau Vintage style I turned to yesteryear for inspiration.

These women from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s etc really knew how to sex it up without over sexualizing swimwear as is the case nowadays.

This weekend I have a shopping trip planned for a client and will definitely be looking out for some vintage inspired swim suits.

Here’s to Spring!
