The Liebster Award

Uncategorized

url

Super excited to be awarded a liebster 🙂 thank you Kassandra for loving my blog enough to select me. I hope I continue to blog, award-worthy posts. Knowing someone is reading my posts and enjoying them motivates me to keep blogging.

Here are the rules I found:

The Official Rules Of The Liebster Award

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.

2. display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)

3. answer  questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

4. provide random facts about yourself.

5. nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)

6. create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.

7. list these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:

8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

The question kassandra asked was:

If your house was burning and you had the chance to save ONLY 3 things (not including pets or family members). What would you save and why?

I would save my photographs, cellphone and the blankie my grandma gave me when I was born. All these things have some kind of sentimental value to me- the photographs are all memories that I could never 100% store in my mind- there are days I sit down and just look at them and remember great times with family and friends. My cellphone- in this tech world we live in, 90% of our lives are stored on some or other tech device- mine is my cell. And lastly the blankie.. I have travelled everywhere with this blankie- its kept me warm on plane, bus & train rides. Its an awesome cover-up when I am lounging on the couch, reminds me of my gran and how much she loved/loves me..I absolutely love it. I hope to one day give it to one of my children when i get to that stage of my life.

My nominees for the Liebster are:

1. Leetal

2. Thandi

3. Sasha

4. Sherane

5. Douglas

I absolutely love these bloggers and their wonderful inspiring posts. I hope they respond to this award and let us know a little bit about themselves.

My questions to these bloggers are:

  1. How did you pick your blog’s name?
  2. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
  3. What motivates you?
  4. What are three things you cannot live without?
  5. Who is your favorite fictional character?
  6. What is your most prized possession?
  7. Describe yourself in three words.
  8. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
  9. What single quality do you most appreciate in people?
  10. What’s your favorite post that you’ve written? (Link, please!)

You can find more details on the Liebster Awards here and make sure you link out to everyone and share the blogger love.

Here’s to more great blog posts, enjoying each others posts and staying happy

Things adults can do on rainy days

Uncategorized

I love rainy days- especially if I don’t have to leave home, that is the best..I grab a cup of tea, curl up on the couch and watch old movies  (& blog ). I love the sound and smell of rain, rain is a chance for the earth to rehydrate and keep creating the pretty that is spring.

Alas, I did go to the studio today 🙂 I’m obsessing over making my space gorgeous- it is taking longer than I wanted it to but I will get there and post some ‘after’ pics.

Here are a few staying indoors tips:

  • If the rain is not too hectic, open a few windows in the space you are seated in, turn off all the gadgets and just listen to the rain- appreciate the wonder that is mother nature.
  • Sit on the couch, wrap yourself in a fuzzy blankie and watch movies all day, or catch-up on shows you have missed out on (Scandal anyone?) and my fav bit- take a nap.
  • Look at your to do list- all those home things you can get done, pick a few and get through them.
  • Write a book, short story, start a dear diary blog… anything- just let out your creative bug.
  • Start or work on hobbies- My fav is doing drawings, designing my new ideas, sewing…whatever your ‘indoor’ hobby is- get to it and enjoy the calmness rain brings upon us to focus.
  • Check out some youtube videos, be inspired- maybe even start your own channel
  • Read a book- I personally love reading sappy romance novels- what better day to do it than on a rainy day
  • Pamper yourself. Give yourself a manicure and pedicure, wear a face mask and a robe, paint your nails, exfoliate your skin, and style your hair. You can even give yourself a makeover. Treat yourself for all the hard work you do.
  • Make yourself some hot chocolate, tea or coffee- whatever your fancy, sip and enjoy the warmth
  • Make yourself a great extravagant meal, or try prepare something you’ve never made before, homemade pasta, seafood paella…yummy
  • Have heartfelt conversations with loved ones, reconnect or if you have people with you, play board games- have a gadget free day.
  • Rearrange closets – I do this all the time- I must admit its because I like playing dress-up…which then leads to a photoshoot session…Am I the only one that does this???
  • Another fav of mine to do is watch HGTV and Cooking channel I love seeing home renos as well as being inspired by unusual dishes made
  • Have a glass of wine and prop your feet up. Let yourself enjoy time off.
  • One of my favourite things to do when I was younger, was stand out in the rain and just let the raindrops hit me (I did not listen when my parents would tell me I will get sick- I didn’t care i just loved the feel of rain on me)- def not heavy rain 🙂

Well, whatever you do on rainy days-look at it as a relax day and enjoy

Modern-day take on gorgeous vintage pieces- originally posted on ohmytrendy.com

So thankful spring is officially here- Couldn’t possibly deal with anymore cold #sigh…

I have spent too many nights & days indoors. time to start packing away coats and lose some layers of clothing.

I have been looking for swimwear inspiration for an upcoming trip and of course in true Nouveau Vintage style I turned to yesteryear for inspiration.

These women from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s etc really knew how to sex it up without over sexualizing swimwear as is the case nowadays.

This weekend I have a shopping trip planned for a client and will definitely be looking out for some vintage inspired swim suits.

Here’s to Spring!

Yellow fever

DIY, Fashionista

I love the weekend…it’s my time to work on projects, chill out and have fun with friends. In my search of a DIY/sewing challenge I remembered I have a conference to go to soon and have nothing to wear (well not really butttt in my defense- who doesn’t like a little something new…) So I started working on a Spring inspired look. I started of with breaking down whether I wanted to wear a dress, skirt, culottes etc then went on to pick from the many spring-colour options out there. I settled on yellow and went around looking for yellow skirts, yellow blouses, yellow dresses, yellow pants 🙂 ( I do have a little obsession with yellow- like gold it’s such an ‘alive’ colour, it’s warm and radiating, yellow definitely always cheers me up.

In my spare time I will be working on a skirt- this could involve some DIY or maybe one will pop up in my many thrifting adventures-either way, I can’t wait till spring- bright colours, warm weather, lazy champagne brunches on sunday…Get here already spring

Here’s my choice for outfits that will make heads turn. I do not own some of the photos in my picks, I did add a few recent pics of me in yellow too.
