If you could spend one whole day alone with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?

Blessed, Inspiration/Motivation

Having a missing my mummy moment of late …well moments to be exact.

When I was asked this question I paused for 2 seconds and instantly thought of my mum.

My rock, motivator, inspiration and best friend….

Every chance I get to chat to her reminds me why God picked her to be my mum. When I feel like life is overwhelming me and I can’t possibly go on…her words {“Tomorrow is another day, smile, God has given you another day to make the most of it”} ring in my ears and I smile and know well tomorrow really is just a sleep away.

When my sister and I decided to begin our little adventure, it was just that..us taking on the world and finding our paths. In that moment the thoughts of leaving the nest and ‘free flying’  were the last, if not non-existent, thoughts. We were on an adventure….

And now I miss the 3am pancakes when I had exams, the random trips to Randburg CBD in South Africa to watch people dance (you had to be there to fully grasp the pleasure my mum got from seeing people boogie in the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday), the goch goch (barbecue) weekends, random day trips planned in minutes…the list is endless…

I cherish every memory my mum created for us in that bubble we called home.

I miss you mummy

The Liebster Award

Uncategorized

Super excited to be awarded a liebster 🙂 thank you Kassandra for loving my blog enough to select me. I hope I continue to blog, award-worthy posts. Knowing someone is reading my posts and enjoying them motivates me to keep blogging.

Here are the rules I found:

The Official Rules Of The Liebster Award

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.

2. display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)

3. answer  questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

4. provide random facts about yourself.

5. nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)

6. create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.

7. list these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:

8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

The question kassandra asked was:

If your house was burning and you had the chance to save ONLY 3 things (not including pets or family members). What would you save and why?

I would save my photographs, cellphone and the blankie my grandma gave me when I was born. All these things have some kind of sentimental value to me- the photographs are all memories that I could never 100% store in my mind- there are days I sit down and just look at them and remember great times with family and friends. My cellphone- in this tech world we live in, 90% of our lives are stored on some or other tech device- mine is my cell. And lastly the blankie.. I have travelled everywhere with this blankie- its kept me warm on plane, bus & train rides. Its an awesome cover-up when I am lounging on the couch, reminds me of my gran and how much she loved/loves me..I absolutely love it. I hope to one day give it to one of my children when i get to that stage of my life.

My nominees for the Liebster are:

1. Leetal

2. Thandi

3. Sasha

4. Sherane

5. Douglas

I absolutely love these bloggers and their wonderful inspiring posts. I hope they respond to this award and let us know a little bit about themselves.

My questions to these bloggers are:

  1. How did you pick your blog’s name?
  2. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
  3. What motivates you?
  4. What are three things you cannot live without?
  5. Who is your favorite fictional character?
  6. What is your most prized possession?
  7. Describe yourself in three words.
  8. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
  9. What single quality do you most appreciate in people?
  10. What’s your favorite post that you’ve written? (Link, please!)

My list to ‘being Audrey’:

2. You can never own too many black dresses.

3. Own a sexy LBD

4. Dance, sing, laugh…be happy

5. Be passionate about what you choose to do in life

6. Have fabulous quotes:

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.

Beyond the fabulous finds in the store, gorgeous dresses, stunning accessories and beautiful decor; the boutique owner, Danna is as awesome as her boutique. Her bubbly personality and knack for sourcing and stocking such fabulous pieces had me gaga about Pinktini.

Below are a few pics…enjoy and definitely make your way to this fab store…

A day in my life

Inspiration/Motivation, Uncategorized

Working around children is one of the best things I ever did in my life- children are real, speak their minds, their honest to a fault and love unconditionally if you love them too.

Everyday is a learning curve for them and you. I know without fail I will smile, laugh, shake my head and be like ‘huh’ every single day. They teach you the art of patience, love, learning, appreciation, respect and trust. (I have met some bad-BAD kids, but that said for the most part I have only encountered the kind of children that warm my heart and bring me joy.)

Sitting down with one of these joys, 8yr old ‘A’- (this young guy has moments of bordering good and bad- he skates the thin line strategically) he said something that made me laugh so hard I was so close to falling off my seat. He looked at me and said, ‘What’s so funny? Do you think what I am saying is that funny?’  ‘Can you not see that I require (requested tool) for my experiment to be successful, great inventors need these.’ I looked at him and said,’no, you have actually opened my eyes to seeing the world in a new way and have inspired me to write a childrens book.’ He says, ‘Well that’s great, does that mean I will be in it?’ to that  said, ‘yes you are the star of my book.’

Since that moment our conversations are wittier, funnier and just down right things books are made of.

I have always journaled, written in some way or another- hello blog! But have never been so inspired as I was in that 1 moment. In true Ruby fashion I had to do the research, understand what I would be taking on and filter all my commitments. In as much as I would want this book to be out and ready with the click of a finger (don’t we all wish we could snap snap and be done with things in as quickly as we could snap…sigh) I had to do a rundown of my current commitments-jobs, life, personal growth. (Thats a blog post for another day) What I know now is that in following our dreams, gut and visions we can achieve great things accomplish the extraordinary and live happy lives. I cant wait to share with you ‘The tales of A’- A not so children’s book (clearly it is still a working title- the bottomline is it won’t be relegated to the children’s book section only)

Wishing you all an awesome week filled with laughter, joy and love
